London Olympia will again be the venue this week as experts from around the world flock to the capital for the annual Infosecurity Europe show. With over 13,000 visitors expected over the three days, this is one of the biggest industry events around. Centrify will be there on Stand C65 to share why we think our range of advanced identity services are the only way IT leaders can secure their hybrid enterprise against modern threats. Attendees also have a great opportunity to hear first-hand from customer Remy Cointreau on the challenges of becoming a more secure and agile organisation through improved identity management.
With new Centrify research revealing data breaches lead to an average share price drop of 5%, there’s no time to waste in migrating away from traditional password-based systems.
Breaches Galore
It’s hard to believe a year has already passed since we were last at Infosecurity Europe. The intervening 12 months has played host to an ever-growing list of data breach incidents, topped by the catastrophic duo of breaches at Yahoo which eventually forced a $350m reduction in its sale price to Verizon. Everywhere you look, cyber security has been in the mainstream news. While this has certainly publicised some of the issues we talk about regularly here at Centrify, it also means that to some extent the hackers are still winning.
Why are they still winning? Because many organisations still rely primarily on outdated password-based systems to authenticate their users and privileged staff. Yet Verizon’s latest Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) reveals that 81% of hacking-related breaches “leveraged either stolen and/or weak passwords.” That might be why 70% of the IT professionals we polled in a new study claimed their organisation simply isn’t able to prevent breaches. The biggest negative consequences of such breaches, we’re told by those IT practitioners who’ve experienced one, are significant financial harm (52%); greater scrutiny of the IT function (51%); significant brand and reputation damage (35%); and decreased customer and consumer trust in the organisation (35%).
Maximum Security, Minimum Fuss
It’s clear that organisations need to look to new technologies which apply multi-factor authentication (MFA) to the log-in process, ensuring hackers can’t phish, guess or crack passwords. The most advanced solutions including the Centrify Analytics Service can also apply machine learning, minimising friction for the end user by ensuring MFA is only used in risky situations. When combined with improved end user education, “least privilege” access policies and the like, IT security leaders can finally begin to take back control of the boundaryless hybrid enterprise.
Centrify is the only industry recognised leader in both Privileged Identity Management and Identity-As-A-Service, providing a single platform to secure every user’s access to apps and infrastructure. But don’t take it from us. Customer Remy Cointreau will be on hand at Infosecurity Europe to explain how Centrify helped the organisation enable employees to securely access apps from any device, anytime, anywhere with maximum security.
Following the presentation by CTO Sébastien Huet and Global CISO Xavier Leschaeve, the firm will be hosting cocktails on the Centrify stand from 3.30pm. It will be a great chance to chat informally to them about their challenges, and how Centrify helped support the firm’s migration to a dynamic, cloud-based infrastructure.
We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
